Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your background?
My name is Tova Anderson, and I have a B.A. in Business Administration. I work as a Customer Account Manager at Westinghouse Electric Company LLC. My journey into the nuclear field was really just a happy coincidence—I knew nothing about the industry when I applied for a marketing-focused job at Westinghouse. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made!

What advice do you have for women in the nuclear field?
Keep trying. Everything worthwhile takes effort and patience. And if you need resources or help, U.S. WIN members are a great asset! The nuclear industry offers incredible opportunities; being persistent and proactive will help you thrive.

What is your favorite work memory or accomplishment?
I think my best accomplishment is getting to know people well enough to understand what’s important to them. This skill has helped me in everything from simple communications to complex decision-making and everything in between.

What is your favorite aspect of U.S. WIN?
U.S. WIN is more than a professional organization—it’s a community striving to better itself and those around it. It has evolved alongside the nuclear industry, addressing challenges like employee shortages, public perception, and inclusivity. Today, there is no better membership for supporting the solutions to these industry-wide issues.

What do you think is the most important benefit of nuclear science, technology, or energy?
Nuclear energy is clean energy and the only source capable of satisfying the world’s electricity demand in a sustainable way. It’s a crucial part of our energy future.

Is there something about your job that most people are surprised to hear?
When I tell people what I do, they’re often surprised simply by the word “nuclear.” It’s an unfamiliar industry for many, and that’s why U.S. WIN and other industry advocates play such an important role in increasing awareness and understanding.
